COVID-19 Update- 31 July 2020

31 Jul 2020

We wanted to let you know the steps we’ve taken following the customer with a confirmed case of COVID-19 case visiting our centre on Tuesday 28 July.

As we let you know, the customer was briefly at Grand Plaza between 12:35pm and 12:50pm on Tuesday, visiting ChaTime and Origin Kebabs. The customer did not sit down in the food court or other common areas and entered and exited the Centre via the food court entry.

Both ChaTime and Origin Kebabs have undertaken a deep clean and sanitisation of their outlets and both remain closed.  All team members in these outlets who were identified as having been in close contact with the affected customer were contacted, are undergoing testing and self-isolating until they receive test results.

We also did a deep clean and sanitisation on Wednesday night, with a special focus on all customer touch points and high traffic areas including the food court path which the customer travelled.

We’re continuing to follow guidance from Queensland Health, and as directed, if you visited either of those two retailers during 12:35pm and 12:50pm on Tuesday and are exhibiting symptoms, however mild please stay home and immediately get tested. Symptoms of COVID-19 could include loss or changes in sense of smell or taste, fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or a runny nose.

We know that Queenslanders may be concerned, and we want you to know our highest priority remains the health and safety of our customers, retailers, team and the broader community. Our centre is open and is an important hub for our community, and we want to reassure you that you can continue to shop with us safely and with confidence.

You may have seen that in line with the Queensland Government’s aged care direction, any residential aged-care facilities in certain suburbs, which includes Browns Plains, will be restricting access. We have confirmed this does NOT mean there is restricted access to the suburbs themselves, and all shopping centres including Grand Plaza, remain open as usual.

The restrictions to aged care facilities can be found here.

We also remind everyone, our customers, our retailers and our team that we have a shared responsibility to keep our community safe. This includes keeping a healthy distance, and maintaining healthy hygiene including washing hands and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

We thank you our community for their cooperation and understanding during this time, and look forward to seeing you at Grand Plaza next time you visit us.
