Spring is the season for transeasonal dressing.
Nailing the look, and being comfortable while at it, all comes down to strategic layering with key pieces that can adapt to your style. Fashion content creator, Emma Waller (@therealhousewifeofnorwood) shares how she styles three versatile jackets, so you can add them to your wardrobe and achieve an effortless spring outfit every day.
1. The Timeless Denim Jacket
The denim jacket is a classic for a reason and a true staple during spring. Warm enough for those cooler days yet still lightweight for when the sun’s out, it goes with almost everything!
For an elevated look, pair it with a light-wash denim jean and crisp white tee, then tie it all together with black leather accessories and stylish sneakers. For a more effortless look, try rolling up the sleeves. You can keep it causal with a hoodie layered underneath for those fresher mornings or throw it over your shoulders in the evening with a floral dress and sandals.
2. The Effortlessly Cool Overshirt
Structured yet still relaxed, the overshirt or "shacket," is an unsung hero when it comes to transeasonal outfits. It’s usually a bit heavier than a shirt but lighter than a coat, making it the perfect mid-weight layer for a spring wardrobe.
Easy to layer over a knit vest or cardigan, pair your overshirt with loose denim jeans and sleek sneakers to achieve a more relaxed look. Great for those sunny spring weekends, it’s comfortable and stylish and you can easily add layers if the temperature drops.
3. Chic Cropped Trench
The trench coat is a staple in many winter wardrobes, and this cropped trench is a modern twist on the timeless classic. Offering the sophisticated appeal of the original, it provides a stylish barrier against unexpected spring rains and winds without the bulk of a full-length coat. A trench also instantly adds a touch of polish to even the most casual ensembles.
When it comes to styling, you can go past a fresh white shirt and a pair of lighter wash, high waisted denim jeans. Walnut leather accessories go hand in hand with light beige of trench and when it comes to shoes, easily style it white sneakers or tan leather boots.
